Relay - Investment Memo
July 2025
Pitch deck1. Executive Summary
Relay is a context-aware audio wearable built for AI-native experiences. While others like Omi, Limitless, Bee, and Plaud Pin have pioneered always-on wearable devices, Relay takes a fundamentally different approach: it's designed to let AI act on your behalf with minimal interaction.
Relay captures real-time audio and environmental context as you move through the world. AI interprets what matters and proactively queues helpful actions. The user doesn't command the device, they simply confirm.
We're raising $500,000 in pre-seed funding to finalize production-ready hardware, launch our developer SDK, and begin piloting with early partners building AI-first tools.
2. Problem and Solution
Problem
Always-on wearables exist, but they still require too much from the user. Whether it's pressing a button, issuing a voice prompt, or checking a screen, these devices assume we want to interact.
But the real opportunity lies in not needing to. In a world where AI is rapidly advancing, we shouldn't have to explain what we need. Software should understand and act.
Solution
Relay is built for ambient capture and AI interpretation. It records contextual audio continuously, allowing AI to identify potential actions: follow-ups, reminders, summaries, notes. The user simply reviews and confirms.
Examples:
- “Add this to my to-do list?” → ✅
- “Send a follow-up to Sarah based on your meeting?” → ✅
- “Save this conversation summary?” → ✅
Relay doesn't need attention. It gives it back while staying under the user's control at all times.
3. Market Opportunity
TAM: $250B+ wearable tech and AI productivity tools
SAM: $10B+ in AI-native developer tools and voice-first experiences
SOM: ~$250M wedge targeting developers, early adopters, and context-aware AI tools
Voice-first agents are going mainstream, but lack deep context. Consumers are adopting AI tools like ChatGPT, but have no persistent hardware interface. Developers want to build, but existing hardware isn't open or passive enough.
4. Team Overview
Jarek Ostrowski - Founder and product builder with experience in manufacturing, full-stack development, and consumer AI tools. Previously built and launched multiple startups across manufacturing and software.
Advisors and collaborators in hardware engineering, iOS development, and early manufacturing support are in place or being recruited.
5. Business Model and Traction
Model
- Hardware sales (~$199-$249 MSRP)
- SDK access for developers
- Native integrations (Notion, Todoist, Gmail, etc.)
Traction
- First working prototypes streaming real-time audio to an iOS app
- Private developer SDK in progress
- Early inbound interest from developer partners
6. Financial Projections
Funding Needed: $500K
Runway: 18 months
Use of Funds
- $50k - Marketing content and ad spend
- $150K - Software + Hardware (iOS app, SDK, Infrastructure)
- $150K - Contract hires for engineering and ops
- $150K - Contingency + flex
Projections
- Year 1: 1,500-2,000 units shipped
- Year 2: 5,000+ units shipped, SDK monetization live
- Revenue: $500K-$1.2M by end of Year 2
7. Risks and Mitigation
Hardware complexity
We are starting with small-batch, in-house production and off-the-shelf components to reduce tooling risk and iteration cycles.
Developer adoption
Targeting AI-first tools and solo founders who already need passive context and open APIs. Focused on quality over quantity early.
Privacy concerns
Clear consent model, opt-in tagging, on-device pre-processing, and developer-specific permission scopes to maintain trust and control.
8. Investment Thesis
Relay is not the first always-on audio wearable, but it's the first built for this moment: where AI can interpret context and act on our behalf. Our bet is that future devices won't ask for your attention. They'll just ask for your approval.
This is a shift from command-based interaction to ambient intent + confirmation. We're not building another assistant, we're building a delegation layer for your life.
Why Relay:
- Built for invisibility
- Context-driven, not event-driven
- AI-powered, but human-confirmed
- Developer friendly
Relay is for the builders who want to create what comes after apps: agents, automations, and proactive tools. We're creating the platform they'll build on.
